Resumo: This paper deals with the limitations and challenges facing land reform settlers, recently installed in the City of St. Margaret South, in the State of Rio Grande do Sul. Its main objective is to discuss how far the understanding of the concept of social class and of class consciousness is able to maintain, or represent a resistance, when the peasants are placed in situations different from those found during the period they were camped. The circumstances in which the settlers faced as a result of capitalist society in which they belong, are numerous and involve appeals from the intense and unbridled consumption, as well as how to produce goods in a clash between those who defend the capitalist mode production and those who advocate a new form of production that does not depend on the policies of the capital. This creates internal conflicts between the settlers, as well as tensions with the municipal authorities and local people, especially farmers. One of the tools for the formation of class consciousness and identity of interests and membership education and peasant is from this perspective, these citizens, subjects are active participants in social movement had the support of itinerant school they conquered, and it, their educators and students who showed as a link propellant ideas, political awareness. This is a qualitative study of dialectical approach also presents principles of participatory research, the understanding that should be the relationship between objectivity and subjectivity, that is, the facts and data. The reality must have the perception that the population involved is this reality so that the facts and positions should be part of the findings and aspirations. Concludes that education plays a fundamental role both in training, (re) building of class consciousness and stratification of the peasantry, as the youth, children and ad.

Tem como objetivo principal discutir até que ponto a compreensão do conceito de classe social e de consciência de classe consegue se manter ou representar uma resistência, quando os camponeses são colocados diante de situações diferentes das encontradas durante o período em que estiveram acampados. As circunstâncias com que os assentados se defrontam, resultantes da sociedade capitalista na qual estão inseridos, são inúmeras e envolvem desde o apelo intenso e desenfreado ao consumo, assim como o modo de produzir as mercadorias, em um embate entre os que defendem o modo capitalista de produção e os que defendem uma nova forma de produção que não dependa das políticas do capital. Tal aspecto geram conflitos internos entre os assentados, assim como tensões com o poder público municipal e a população local, especialmente os produtores agrícolas. Uma das ferramentas para a formação da consciência de classe e da identidade de interesses e pertença camponesa é a educação e, nesta ótica, os cidadãos analisados, sujeitos participantes ativos no movimento social, contavam com o apoio da escola itinerante por eles conquistada e, nela, de seus educadores e educandos que se mostravam como um elo propulsor de ideias, de formação da consciência política. A pesquisa possui cunho qualitativo com abordagem dialética, apresentando princípios de pesquisa participante, pela compreensão de que deve ser feita a relação entre objetividade e subjetividade, ou seja, os fatos e dados existentes. A realidade concreta deve contar com a percepção que a população envolvida tem dessa realidade de modo que os fatos e posicionamentos devem fazer parte das constatações e aspirações.
