Evasão na UFSM: análise das determinantes encontradas nos cursos presenciais de graduação

Resumo: | The UFSM was the only one contemplated with the university expansion in the state of Rio Grande do Sul in December 2013, when it obtained the authorization to create another campus outside of headquarters in the city of Cachoeira do Sul, with the beginning of activities from the semester 2014/2, accounting for an increase of 190 vacancies per semester. From this period until 2022/1 there was an evasion not only in the main campus but also in the other campi, totaling 19,116 cases. The objective of the study was to analyze the determinants of the dropout of students from undergraduate courses offered by UFSM, in the period between 2014/2 and 2022/1, compare perceptions of those who drop out and propose suggestions for improvement. A survey was used with a sample of 819 respondents. As data analysis procedures, descriptive statistics, factor analysis, t-test and regression techniques were used. As results, the participating population is 68.5% from public school, exclusively. Most of the students (62.27%) dropped out during the first 4 periods and 21.25% declared they had not completed any period. With regard to the dimensions of dropping out, the factors with the highest averages were: Attitudinal, Personal, Course Plan, Discipline and Profile, and most say they are satisfied with UFSM. It is emphasized that any of the determinants presented in this research is capable of producing evasion, no matter how much care, attention and developments the institution surrounds itself with, since the external determinant is uncontrollable by the educational institution, although it should be followed up, monitored and prevented by the UFSM management, with suggestions/proposals for decision making about evasion |

Desse período até 2022/1 houve uma evasão não só na sede bem como nos demais campi, totalizando 19.116 casos. O objetivo do estudo foi analisar as determinantes da evasão dos alunos dos cursos de graduação presencial ofertados pela UFSM, no período entre 2014/2 e 2022/1, comparar percepções dos evadidos e propor sugestões de melhorias. Foi utilizada uma survey contando com amostra de 819 respondentes. Como procedimentos de análise de dados, foram utilizadas técnicas de estatística descritiva, análise fatorial, Teste t e regressão. Como resultados, a população participante é de 68,5% de escola pública, exclusivamente. A maioria dos alunos (62,27%) evadiram durante os 4 primeiros períodos e 21.25% declararam não ter concluído nenhum período. Com relação as dimensões da evasão, os fatores com as maiores médias foram: Atitudinal, Pessoal, Plano de curso, Disciplina e Perfil, e a maioria se diz satisfeito com a UFSM.
