Resumo: In breeding pigs, with the specific advances in genetics and demand of the swine market, it is necessary to evaluate if it is possible the greater use of the young animals and with that increase the production of inseminating doses and to maximize their useful life in the centers of artificial insemination .Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate the best intervals for the collection of semen from boars at the beginning of their reproductive life, at nine months of age. For this, twenty boars were randomly distributed in four treatments (T), being T1 - interval between collections of two days; T2- interval between collections of three days; T3- interval between collections of four days and T4- interval between collections of seven days (control). The ejaculates were diluted in Vitassem® (long acting diluent), and inseminating doses were produced, which were evaluated for the volume, total motility, mass motility, total concentration, , total number of cells, morphology, membrane integrity and reactive substances to thiobarbituric acid (TBARS) The inseminated doses were evaluated at hours 0, 24, 72, 120 and 168) and testicular measurements (length, width and volume). The T3 group presented a spermatic concentration of 5.6% (p> 0.05), 37.04% (p <0.05) and 42.15% (p <0.05) higher than T4, T2 and T1. The total motility of T4 was higher in 0.79% (p> 0.05), 2.02% (p> 0.05) and 3.38% (p <0.05) than in T3, T2 and T1, respectively. The right testicle volume in the T4 was 18.48% (p <0.05), 23.14% (p <0.05) and 34.46% (p <0.05) compared to T3, T2 and T1, respectively. In the evaluation of sperm morphology for normal cells, T4 was higher in 6.47% (p <0.05), 8.14% (p <0.05) and 14.21% (p <0.05) when compared to the groups T3, T2 and T1. The T4 group had normal plasma membrane integrity (p <0.05), 8.8% (p <0.05) and 14.57 (p <0.05) plasma membrane integrity when compared to T3, T2 and T1. And for the Tbars parameters, the T1 group was 6.58% (p <0.05), 12.52% (p <0.05) and 10.03% (p <0.05) higher than the groups T2, T3 and T4, respectively. These results indicate that short intervals between semen collections negatively influence the quantitative and qualitative characteristics of sperm cells. The four day interval between collections provides the best results on sperm viability.

The four day interval between collections provides the best results on sperm viability.Na reprodução de suínos, com os avanços específicos em genética e demanda do mercado suinícola, há a necessidade de se avaliar a possibilidade do maior aproveitamento dos animais jovens, e com isso aumentar a produção de doses inseminantes, bem como maximizar sua vida útil nos centros de difusão genética. O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar quais os melhores intervalos entre coletas de sêmen de suínos reprodutores no início da vida reprodutiva, com 9 meses de idade. Para isso, 20 suínos foram distribuídos aleatoriamente em quatro tratamentos (T): T1- intervalo entre coletas de dois dias; T2- intervalo entre coletas de três dias; T3- intervalo entre coletas de quatro dias e T4- intervalo entre coletas de sete dias. Os ejaculados foram diluídos em Vitassem® (diluente de longa duração), e produzidas doses inseminantes, as quais, foram avaliadas quanto ao volume, motilidade total, motilidade massal, concentração total, número total de células, morfologia, integridade de membrana e as substâncias reativas ao ácido tiobarbitúrico (TBARS). As doses de sêmen produzidas foram avaliadas nas horas 0, 24, 72, 120 e 168. Foram realizadas medidas testiculares (comprimento, largura e volume). O T3 apresentou concentração espermática 5,6% (p>0,05), 37,04% (p<0,05) e 42,15% (p<0,05) superior se comparado ao T4, T2 e T1. A motilidade total do T4 foi superior em 0,79% (p>0,05), 2,02% (p>0,05) e 3,38% (p<0,05) se comparada ao T3, T2 e T1, respectivamente. O volume do testículo direito do T4 foi 18,48% (p<0,05), 23,14% (p<0,05) e 34,46% (p<0,05) em comparação a T3, T2 e T1, respectivamente. Na avaliação da morfologia espermática para células normais, o T4 foi superior em 6,47% (p<0,05), 8,14% (p<0,05) e 14,21% (p<0,05) se comparada aos grupos T3, T2 e T1. O grupo T4 apresentou integridade de membrana plasmática normais (p<0,05) de 6,89%, 8,8% e 14,57 quando comparado com T3, T2 e T1, respectivamente. Já o TBARS do grupo T1 foi 6,58%, 12,52% e 10,03% superior (p<0,05) aos grupos T2, T3 e T4, respectivamente. Esses resultados indicam que menores intervalos entre coletas de sêmen, influenciam negativamente as características quantitativas e qualitativas das células espermáticas. O intervalo entre coletas de 3 e 4 dias proporcionou os melhores resultados sobre a viabilidade espermática.porUniversidade Federal de Santa MariaCentro de Ciências RuraisPrograma de Pós-Graduação em Medicina VeterináriaUFSMBrasilMedicina VeterináriaAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 Internationalhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessCélulas espermáticasDoses inseminantesIntervalos entre coletasParâmetros espermáticosSperm cellsInseminating dosesIntervals between collectionsSperm parametersCNPQ::CIENCIAS AGRARIAS::MEDICINA VETERINARIAAvaliação da frequência de coletas de sêmen em machos reprodutores suínos no início da vida reprodutivaEvaluation of the frequency of semen collections in breed reproductive males in the beginning of reproductive lifeinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisRossi, Carlos Augusto Rigonhttp://lattes.cnpq.br/2731865929384689Leal, Marta Lizandra do Rêgohttp://lattes.cnpq.br/6859797230596402Soares, Marcelohttp://lattes.cnpq.br/4194437837757313Lucca, Walterhttp://lattes.cnpq.br/6341457519243415http://lattes.cnpq.br/0855270649778192Dornelles, Julianni50050000000760050069c8ec23-926a-40b3-b11e-d91c1c81f1a95390f0bb-c46b-43b7-9084-6c2676cd1bec0285882e-f5b8-432f-ad65-54769c51a1559dfc4998-478f-4cdb-85d0-403a8cdc729003ab8a97-92c0-4b8a-8d2b-0a1a305a3abdreponame:Manancial - Repositório Digital da UFSMinstname:Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM)instacron:UFSMORIGINALDIS_PPGMV_2019_DORNELLES_JULIANNI.pdfDIS_PPGMV_2019_DORNELLES_JULIANNI.pdfDissertação de Mestradoapplication/pdf945103http://repositorio.ufsm.br/bitstream/1/16779/1/DIS_PPGMV_2019_DORNELLES_JULIANNI.pdfb74186acfdb8a43bdbe59954885e4d28MD51CC-LICENSElicense_rdflicense_rdfapplication/rdf+xml;
