Resumo: The objective of this study was to identify which variables of the productive parameters of the pasture, animal performance, ingestive behavior and displacement patterns explain most of the results among the levels of supplementation offered to heifers finished in Tifton 85 (Cynodon dactylon). Principal component analysis was used to identify which variables were relevant. In the analysis, the variables forage mass, canopy height, rate of forage accumulation, forage on offer, stocking rate, average daily gain, body weight, body condition score, grazing time, idle time, number of feeding stations/day, time per feeding station, bite rate/day, leaf blades mass, leaf allowance and leaf blade: stem ratio explained from 77.1 to 80.5% of the total variation of the results. Heifers who received 1.2% of supplement had higher weight, body condition score and average daily gain. Higher stocking rate and forage mass were verified in the treatment in which heifers received 0.8% of supplement, while greater forage on offer was observed in the treatment with 0.4% supplement. High rate of forage accumulation and canopy height was verified in the treatment in which heifers were exclusively kept on pasture. Heifers receiving 0.4% supplementation visited more feeding stations, while heifers who received 1.2% supplement remained longer in feeding stations. The level of 0.8% of supplementary did not influence the variables evaluated. Termination of heifers exclusively on Tifton 85 grazing is not feasible due to poor animal performance. Displacement patterns and ingestive behavior of heifers receiving or not supplementation are influenced by the structural characteristics of the pasture.

Utilizou-se a análise de componentes principais para identificar quais variáveis foram relevantes. Na análise, as variáveis massa de forragem, altura do dossel, taxa de acúmulo de forragem, oferta de forragem, carga animal, ganho médio diário, peso vivo, escore de condição corporal, tempo de pastejo, tempo de ócio, número de estações alimentares/dia, tempo em cada estação, taxa de bocado/dia, massa e oferta de lâminas foliares e relação folha:colmo, explicaram de 77,1 a 80,5% da variação total dos resultados. Novilhas que receberam 1,2% de peso corporal de suplemento apresentaram maior peso, escore de condição corporal e ganho médio diário de peso. Maior carga animal e massa de forragem foram verificadas no tratamento em que as novilhas receberam 0,8% de suplemento, enquanto maior oferta de forragem foi observada no tratamento com 0,4% de suplemento. Maior taxa de acúmulo de forragem e altura de dossel, foi verificado no tratamento em que as novilhas foram mantidas exclusivamente em pastagem. Novilhas que receberam 0,4% de suplemento visitaram maior número estações alimentares, enquanto novilhas que receberam 1,2% de suplemento permaneceram mais tempo em cada estação alimentar. O nível 0,8% de suplemento, não influenciou as variáveis avaliadas. A terminação de novilhas exclusivamente em pastagem de Tifton 85 torna-se inviável pelo baixo desempenho animal. Os padrões de deslocamento e o comportamento ingestivo de novilhas recebendo ou não suplemento são influenciadas pelas características estruturais do pasto.Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPESporUniversidade Federal de Santa MariaCentro de Ciências RuraisPrograma de Pós-Graduação em ZootecniaUFSMBrasilZootecniaAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 Internationalhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessGanho médio diárioTaxa de bocadoCynodon dactylonAnálise multivariadaPastagem tropicalAverage daily gainBite rateCynodon dactylonMultivariate analysisTropical pasturesCNPQ::CIENCIAS AGRARIAS::ZOOTECNIADesempenho e comportamento de novilhas em tifton 85 com diferentes níveis de suplementaçãoAnimal performance and ingestive behavior of beef heifers in tifton 85 with different levels of supplementationinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/doctoralThesisBrondani, Ivan Luizhttp://lattes.cnpq.br/5813089147720195Mello, Fernanda Cristina Bredahttp://lattes.cnpq.br/9702654931601290Fonseca, Lidianehttp://lattes.cnpq.br/4591801458966703Segabinazzi, Luciane Rumpelhttp://lattes.cnpq.br/7841567997985027Pizzuti, Luiz Angelo Damianhttp://lattes.cnpq.br/9463866484065885http://lattes.cnpq.br/7616014173878018Martini, Ana Paula Machado500400000002600734f41d9-cb39-4ca4-81e7-b1d776cdc0db2d7bd6ae-090b-4d64-b1fd-c482714c335ce0b01437-76ad-4579-83d4-6cd084a3c44a4090fda0-636d-44e7-a3e8-57e1cd02c59e501319dc-d5ca-4b8a-9a96-df33d2296315e051d5c8-fb70-4ecc-936b-dc6fe252daf8reponame:Manancial - Repositório Digital da UFSMinstname:Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM)instacron:UFSMORIGINALTES_PPGZOOTECNIA_2018_MARTINI_ANA.pdfTES_PPGZOOTECNIA_2018_MARTINI_ANA.pdfTese de Doutoradoapplication/pdf1305497http://repositorio.ufsm.br/bitstream/1/15707/1/TES_PPGZOOTECNIA_2018_MARTINI_ANA.pdfff6d5d3b997ae5987c769b00d0bae814MD51LICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
