Resumo: | Urban environmental problems are the product of the relationship between the natural environment and the city, and that action must go through the social dimension. The pursuit of sustainable development involves acquisition by the individual of the environment in which it operates, allowing an awakening to the necessary social changes. This study aimed to identify environmental awareness in children of the NGO Associação de Amigos "São Pedro Julião Eymard" (ASPE), in São Carlos-SP, and build the interface between scientific knowledge on environmental issues in the region, with the view of the participants on these issues, seeking the development of collective solutions. There were different activities over three meetings to awaken a critical eye on children on the environmental problems of their neighborhoods. With the project we found a greater sense of responsibility of children on their space, expansion of environmental awareness, and awareness of the problems and need for improvement. |

A busca do desenvolvimento sustentável envolve a apropriação pelo indivíduo do meio em que se insere, possibilitando um despertar para as mudanças sociais necessárias. Este trabalho buscou identificar a percepção ambiental de crianças da ONG Associação de Amigos “São Pedro Julião Eymard” (ASPE), no município de São Carlos-SP, e construir a interface entre os conhecimentos científicos, relativos às questões ambientais da região, com a visão dos participantes sobre tais questões, buscando a elaboração de soluções coletivas. Realizaram-se diferentes atividades ao longo de três encontros para despertar um olhar crítico nas crianças sobre os problemas ambientais de seus bairros.
