Symbolic appropriations of Northeastern identity: Juliette’s representation in encouraging the consumption of cosmetics

Resumo: The article discusses the symbolic appropriations of Juliette Freire, winner of Big Brother Brasil 2021, by the brand L’Occitane to promote the Mandacaru cosmetics line. The aim is to present the transformation of the participant into a digital influencer based on the visibility created by traditional and digital media. The analysis is based on the contributions of Sennet (2001), Campanella (2018), Van Krieken (2012) and Drissens (2014). Thus, it is understood that her image is used as a representation of the Northeastern identity, corroborating to encourage the consumption of products and services of her sponsors.
