ESTABLISHMENT OF RIPARIAN FOREST AT THE MARGINS OF THE RESERVIOR OF THE CAMARGOS HYDROELETRIC PLANT, MINAS GERAIS

Resumo: The object of this survey was to analyze the growth and vigor of arboreal and shrub species planted in a reservoir shore of the Camargos Hydroeletric Plant, in the state of Minas Gerais, and to verify the processes of natural regeneration in function of the reservoir distance and along the planted area. At 150 months, in the arboreal species inventory, all the planted and the natural regenerations with diameter at breast height ³ 5 cm were measured. Grades (1.0 to 5.0) were attributed for the evaluation of the tree vigor. For the natural regeneration survey, four transects were demarcated and three 1 x 15 m plots were established in each transect, following the slope. Results showed that some of the pioneer species displayed senescence signs after 13 years of planting. In the natural regeneration, 55 species of 27 families were identified. Species of the Asteraceae family predominated in the more disturbed areas, because they are adapted to these conditions. There was predominance in zoochoric dispersion among the regenerating species. The greater regeneration density was found near the reservoir, whereas the bigger diversity and average height were found in the opposite side of the planted area.

Este trabalho teve como objetivo analisar o crescimento e o vigor de espécies arbóreas e arbustivas plantadas na margem do reservatório da UHE Camargos, em Minas Gerais, e verificar o processo de sucessão secundária em função da distância do reservatório e ao longo da área de plantio. Decorridos 150 meses, foi realizado o inventário das espécies arbóreas, medindo-se todos os indivíduos plantados e os provenientes de regeneração natural com DAP ≥ 5cm. Foram atribuídas notas que variaram de 1,0 a 5,0 para avaliação do vigor das árvores. Para o levantamento da regeneração natural, foram demarcados quatro transecções e estabelecidas três parcelas de 1 x 15 m em cada transecção, orientadas no sentido do declive. Os resultados mostram que algumas espécies pioneiras demonstram sinais de senescência após 13 anos de plantio. Foram identificadas na regeneração natural 55 espécies de 27 famílias. Espécies da família Asteraceae predominaram nas áreas mais alteradas, pois são adaptadas a essas condições. Houve predominância da dispersão zoocórica para as espécies regenerantes.
