Resumo: | This study was carried out to evaluate a drying Schedule for Eucalyptus viminalis. Two trees were cut after of a circumferencial groove with a chalin saw. The logs were steamed prior to transformation into 25mm thick boards. The schedule included a initial steaming for 2 hours, to increase the rate of drying, a intermediate steaming for a preriod of 4 hours used to recuperate collapsed boards, and a final steaming to relief moisture gradients and internal tensions. All steaming treatment were done at 100ºC. The results obtained indicated that using such technics about 72% of the boards were practically free of defects. The results can be considered as very positive, and it is probably due to the combination of the treatments applied (log steaming and a circumferencial groove with a chain saw) as well to the adequade drying schedule. |

The results can be considered as very positive, and it is probably due to the combination of the treatments applied (log steaming and a circumferencial groove with a chain saw) as well to the adequade drying schedule.
