Resumo: | Two experiments were carried out to evaluate the efficiency of some ganulated baits on the control of the red leaf cutting ant, Acromyrmex heyeri (Forel, 1899) (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) in Santa Maria- RS from January until May 1995 on an area with native pasture. Baits containing Chlorpyrifos at 4.5g a.i. kg-1, Sulfluramid at 3.0g a.i. kg-1 and Dodecachlor at 4.5g a.i. kg-1 were applied 10g/small nest (20-30cm diameter) and 30g/big nest (45-60cm diameter) using a completely randomized design with 10 replication. Up to 72 hours afterwards the attractiveness or repulsiveness of the baits were evaluated. Five, 30, 60, and 90 bays later the activity of the nests were observed. Ninety after treatmentes the nests were excaved and control efficiency was calculated. For small nests, 10g/ nest of baits containing Sulfluramid were as efficient as the standard treatment, 30g/ nest of Docecachlor. For big nests, 30g/ nest of baits containing Sulfluramid were as efficient as the standard Dodecachlor. Baits containing Chlorpyrifos were not efficient on the control of the red ant. |

A eficiência de controle da formiga vermelha de monte, (Acromyrmex heyeri)(Forel, 1899)(Hymenoptera: Formicidae), através de iscas granuladas, foi avaliada em dois ensaios no município de Santa Maria, numa área de pastagem nativa, no período de janeiro a maio de 1995. Foram demarcados 70 formigueiros pequenos (diâmetro entre 20 e 30 cm) e 60 formigueiros grandes (diâmetro entre 45 e 60 cm) nos quais em delineamento interiramente casaualizado com dez repetições forma aplicados: 10g de iscas/formigueiro pequeno, contendo Cloripifós (Urutu-AG e Landrin-F), 10g de iscas/formigueiro pequeno, contendo Sulfuramida (Fluramim e Mirex-S), 10 e 30g de iscas/formigueiro pequeno, contendo Dodecacloro (Mirex), ficando os outros dez formigueiros pequenos, como testemunha; 30g de iscas/formigueiro grande à base de Clorpirifós (Urutu-AG e Landrin-F), de Sulfuramida (Fluramim e Mirmex-S) e de Dodecacloro (Mirex) e testemunha, se isca formicida. Avaliou-se até 72 horas após, a atividade e rejeição das iscas. Aos 5, 30, 60 e 90 dias após observou-se q atividade dos formigueiros. Aos 90 DAT, com um enxadão, os formigueiros foram escavados e calculada a eficiência de controle. Para formigueiros pequenos, 10g de iscas/formigueiro contendo Sulfuramida foram tão eficientes quanto o padrão Dodecacloro, a 30g/formigueiro. Para formigueiros grandes, a dose de 30g de iscas/formigueiro, contendo Sulfuramida foram tão eficientes quanto o padrão Dodecacloro.
