Educational practices held at the Bourneville School Pavilion: a study through the Sociology of Absences in relation to autism

Resumo: | The present study aims to understand what the educational and pedagogical practices in relation to autism were in the period of hygienism in Brazil, a time when nosology did not employ this term. As the term autism was not used, the study elects by reference peculiarities of some of the children and young people with autism, such as restlessness, incommunicability, and intellectual disability. This work adopts as a locus of study, the Bourneville School Pavilion for abnormal children, located in the National Asylum of The Alienated of Rio de Janeiro. The central objective is to analyze historically how educational and pedagogical practices of school exclusion have been constituted in relation to children and young people at the beginning of the century, in Brazil. The organization and analysis of the information was made based in Boaventura de Sousa Santos and in the historical-cultural approach. A literature review was made, and the translation work served as research methods. For category analysis, it was examined the practices of what was done as treatment, educational or pedagogical organization, as well as the orientation of practices to teachers in Bourneville School Pavilion. In this study it was possible to ascertain as treatment and education, the translation of the procedures used in Europe, as a form of metonymic reason and there was little reference to superior psychic processes. |

Al no utilizar el concepto de autismo, el estudio opta por referirse a las peculiaridades de algunos niños y jóvenes con autismo, como la inquietud, la incomunicación y la discapacidad intelectual. Este texto adopta como un locus de estudio el Pabellón Escolar de Bourneville para niños anormales, ubicado en el Asilo Nacional de Los Alienados de Río de Janeiro. El objetivo central es analizar cómo históricamente se han constituido prácticas históricamente educativas y pedagógicas de exclusión escolar en relación con los niños y jóvenes a principios de siglo XX, en Brasil. La organización y análisis de la información se realizó a la luz de la contribución teórica en Boaventura de Sousa Santos y en el enfoque histórico-cultural. Se utilizó la revisión de la literatura, y el trabajo de traducción sirvió como metodología de investigación. La lectura cuidadosa de la información utiliza datos contextuales. Como categorías de análisis, el estudio se basó en las prácticas de lo que se hizo como tratamiento, así como en la orientación de las prácticas a los maestros em Pabellón Escolar de Bourneville. En este estudio se pudo constatar como tratamiento y educación, la traducción de los procedimientos utilizados en Europa, como una forma de razonamiento metonímico y la poca referencia a los procesos psíquicos superiores.O presente estudo visa entender quais foram as práticas educacionais e pedagógicas em relação ao autismo, no período do higienismo no Brasil, um tempo em que a nosologia não empregava este termo. Como o conceito de autismo não era utilizado, o estudo elege por referência peculiaridades de algumas crianças e jovens com autismo, tais como a inquietação, a incomunicabilidade e a deficiência intelectual. Este texto adota como lócus de estudo o Pavilhão Escola Bourneville para crianças anormais, situado no Hospício Nacional de Alienados do Rio de Janeiro. O objetivo central é analisar como, historicamente, foram se constituindo as práticas educativas e pedagógicas de exclusão escolar em relação às crianças e jovens, no início do século XX, no Brasil. A organização e análise das informações foi feita à luz do aporte teórico em Boaventura de Sousa Santos e na abordagem histórico-cultural. A revisão de literatura foi utilizada e o trabalho de tradução serviu como análise da metodologia da pesquisa. Como categoria de análise, o estudo se deteve nas práticas do que foi feito enquanto tratamento, bem como na orientação de práticas aos docentes no Pavilhão Escola Bourneville.
