Resumo: The root-knot nematode Meloidogyne javanica is a major plant parasitic nematode of soybean. Its control should be based on the use of all available methods. Thus the objective of the study was to evaluate the effect of different cover crops and nematicides in the management of M. javanica in soybean, besides the reaction of soybean cultivars and cover crops to plant parasitic nematode. The field study was conducted in Julio de Castilhos / RS, in the season 2013/2014. The treatments consisted of a factorial with different cover crops in winter and different nematicides in soybeans. The population of M. javanica in the soil and roots and soybean yield was evaluated. In growth chamber was evaluated the reaction of 45 soybean cultivars and cover crops to M. javanica. Assays were carried out in pots of 700 cm3 and were inoculated with 5000 juveniles and eggs of M. javanica in each pot. At 60 days after inoculation was performed to evaluate the gall index, fresh weight of root and population of M. javanica in the soil and roots (juveniles and eggs). From these values were calculated nematode density and the reproduction factor. Cover crops and nematicides showed significant effects on the control of M. javanica and soybean yield. All 45 cultivars are presented susceptible to M. javanica. Already cover crops were resistant to plant parasitic nematode.

Seu controle deve ser baseado na utilização de todos os métodos disponíveis. Dessa forma o objetivo do trabalho foi avaliar o efeito de diferentes culturas de cobertura e nematicidas no manejo de M. javanica em soja, além da reação de cultivares de soja e culturas de cobertura ao fitonematoide. O ensaio a campo foi conduzido no município de Júlio de Castilhos/RS, na safra 2013/2014. Os tratamentos foram compostos por fatorial com diferentes culturas de cobertura no inverno e diferentes nematicidas na soja. Foi avaliada a população de M. javanica no solo e nas raízes e a produtividade da soja. Em câmara de crescimento foi avaliada a reação de 45 cultivares de soja e de culturas de cobertura a M. javanica. Os ensaios foram conduzidos em vasos de 700 cm3 e a inoculação foi realizada com 5000 juvenis e ovos de M. javanica em cada vaso. Aos 60 dias após a inoculação foi realizada a avaliação do índice de galhas, massa fresca de raiz e população final de M. javanica no solo e raizes (juvenis e ovos). A partir desses valores foi calculada a densidade de fitonematoides e o fator de reprodução. As culturas de cobertura e os nematicidas apresentaram efeitos significativos sobre o controle de M. javanica e a produtividade da soja. Todas as 45 cultivares testadas apresentam-se suscetíveis a M. javanica.
