Resumo: The aim with this paper was to identify the actions developed by nurses while caring for women in a situation of violence and learn the reasons the nurse action while taking care of these women. It was conducted a qualitative research using the sociological phenomenology approach of Alfred Schutz. The participants were registered nurses that performed the care to women in a situation of violence in the tree in three health services of the Santa Maria, RS, Brazil. The data generation happened between January and April of 2013. It was used the phenomenological interview which was finished in the 10th empathetic encounter, when it was noticed the meanings‟ reliance and adequacy. It was unveiled that while the nurses developed the action of caring for these women, the primarily focus was their physical and biological health recovery. It is expected to understand the situation; that the women awake themselves about the violence and seek for help with another professional so they don‟t go back to the same situation. The action of caring revealed guided in the knowledge gathered by the professionals in their life course and in the typical social role of being a nurse, grounded in the existing biomedical pattern. However, they talk and seem to listen to the women; they aim, in this matter, to provide relief, help and the emotional well-being. There is a need to forward to someone else professionals and possible services that serve the women, with this, they hope for support and the continuity in the care, so the women can build a life without the violence perspective. Although they recognize the need for a multiprofessional and networked care, little is done for this care transfer to actually happen. The profiled action reveals the urgency to amplify the focus in the care to the person in its biographical unique situation. Reinforcing the need to consider the Social Determinants of Health that build the world that surrounds this women in the care actions. To shelter it‟s essential that the nurses put themselves in a join attitude, in a intersubjective relation, sharing the same time and space, in which they understand the needs of care from these women and commit to them. In order for that, it‟s essential for them to launch the communication and their role as a health team. There is the need to instigate actions that aim to disassemble the natural attitudes from the professionals and the women regarding the violence experienced, as well as, to implement a corporate culture in order to visualize the violence situations.

No entanto, demonstram conversar e escutar as mulheres; objetivam desse modo proporcionar alívio, ajuda e o bem-estar emocional.
