Over the years, energy efficiency has become increasingly a necessity in the design and construction of buildings. As a result of the creation of initiatives encouraged by the government of the need to combine better energy performance by lower operating cost and market differential, many companies have sought energy certifications. In this context, this dissertation analyzes, compares and evaluates legislation in the energy area directed to hotel buildings, focusing on the Technical Quality Regulations created by the National Program for the Conservation of Electric Energy (PROCEL). Today hotel buildings are evaluated in the regulation of commercial, service and public buildings (RTQ-C), through prescriptive methods and / or computer simulation. For this, a study object with characteristic typology of large hotel networks was defined, where the two existing regulations were applied. Firstly the RTQ-C and after the RTQ-R, both being evaluated through the simulation and prescriptive methods. With this it was possible to observe the different parameters in each application of regulation and method, thus enabling a qualitative analysis for hotel buildings. From then on, it was possible to qualify the parameters by making suggestions for modifications in the evaluation of the energy certification.
