Resumo: The present study aimed to analyze how the novelty production approach by farming families of central territory of the State of Rio Grande do Sul (RS), influences on the sustainability of agroecosystems in agroecological transition. In this regard, eight agroecosystems were surveyed in the counties of Santa Maria, São João do Polêsine, Agudo, Júlio de Castilhos, Santiago and Dona Francisca. The study was performed with qualitative and quantitative methods, and in order to verify the sustainability of the agroecosystems, “Framework for the Assessment of National Resource Management Systems Incorporating Sustainability Indicators" - MESMIS was used, enabling to develop indicators through a participatory methodology. Thus, 12 sustainability indicators were elaborated, which are: Indicator of Sustainability, Agroecological Technical Assistance; Diversification of Marketing Channels; Receptivity for Agroecological Knowledge; Hiring of External Labor; Family Succession; Information on Agroecology; Level of Agroecological Transition; Diversification of Productive Activities; Empirical Experiences; Water quality; Quality of life; and Soil Quality. After the indicators were measured, it could be verified that the agroecosystems have good levels of sustainability, wherein the indicators Empirical Experiences and the Indicator of Sustainability Information on Agroecology revealed the best resusts, whereas the Indicator of Sustainability Agroecological Technical Assistance and the Indicator of Sustainability were the most worrisome ones. Further, the occurrence of novelty in each agroecosystem was verified, analyzing their influence on each indicator, which evidenced its greater occurrence in the indicators of Sustainability Empirical Experiences and Levels of sustainability, and lower occurrence on the ones with low levels of sustainability. Furthermore, the farming families do not consider the novelty they develop as a differential, which is already incorporated into their daily lives. As the most part of them emerged during challenging periods, in order to fulfill the role of technologies or strategies that were no longer viable, they are oftenly seen as a "breakthrough", without acquiring a real importance for the maintenance of agroecosystems. Finally, it was evident that these noveltys influence on the sustainability of agroecosystems, being essential in the process of agroecological transition.

Finally, it was evident that these noveltys influence on the sustainability of agroecosystems, being essential in the process of agroecological transition.O presente estudo se propôs a analisar como a produção de novidades pelas famílias agricultoras no Território Central do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul (RS) influencia na sustentabilidade de agroecossistemas em transição agroecológica. Foram pesquisados 08 agroecossistemas localizados nos municípios de Santa Maria, São João do Polêsine, Agudo, Júlio de Castilhos, Santiago e Dona Francisca. O estudo foi realizado pautando-se em métodos quali-quantitavos, sendo que para verificar a sustentabilidade dos agroecossistemas foi utilizada a ferramenta “Marco de Avaluación de Sistemas de Manejo de Recursos Naturales Incorporando Indicadores de Sustentabilidad” - MESMIS, a qual, através de uma metodologia participativa, visa à construção de indicadores. Assim, foram elaborados 12 indicadores de sustentabilidade, os quais são: Indicador de Sustentabilidade Assistência Técnica Agroecológica; Diversificação dos Canais de Comercialização; Receptividade para o Conhecimento Agroecológico; Contratação de Mão de Obra Externa; Sucessão Familiar; Informações sobre a Agroecologia; Nível de Transição Agroecológica; Diversificação de Atividades Produtivas; Experiências Empíricas; Qualidade da Água; Qualidade de Vida; e Qualidade do Solo. Após a mensuração dos indicadores, constatou-se que os agroecossistemas apresentam bons níveis de sustentabilidade, sendo que o Indicador de Sustentabilidade Experiências Empíricas e o Indicador de Sustentabilidade Informações sobre Agroecologia apresentaram os melhores resultados e o Indicador de Sustentabilidade Assistência Técnica Agroecológica e o Indicador de Sustentabilidade Contratação de Mão de Obra Externa os mais preocupantes. Depois, foi verificada a ocorrência de novidades em cada agroecossistema, analisando a sua influência em cada indicador, o que evidenciou que essa ocorre com maior incidência nos Indicadores de Sustentabilidade de Experiências Empíricas e Nível de Transição Agroecológica e com menor nos que apresentaram os níveis mais baixos de sustentabilidade. Além disso, as famílias agricultoras não percebem as novidades que produzem como um diferencial, isso já está incorporado ao seu dia a dia. Como grande parte dessas surgiram em momentos de necessidade, para cumprir o papel de tecnologias ou estratégias que não se tornavam viáveis, na maioria das vezes são entendidas como um “quebra-galho”, não sendo atrelada a elas a sua real importância para a manutenção dos agroecossistemas. Por fim, constatou-se que as novidades produzidas influenciam diretamente na sustentabilidade dos agroecossistemas, sendo consideradas primordiais no processo de transição agroecológica.Conselho Nacional de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico - CNPqporUniversidade Federal de Santa MariaCentro de Ciências RuraisPrograma de Pós-Graduação em Extensão RuralUFSMBrasilAgronomiaAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 Internationalhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessSustentabilidadeIndicadores de sustentabilidadeProdução de novidadesMESMISAgroecologiaSustainabilityIndicators of sustainabilityProduction of innovationAgroecologyCNPQ::CIENCIAS AGRARIAS::AGRONOMIAEntre indicadores e novidades: a sustentabilidade dos agroecossistemas em transição agroecológica no território central do RSBetween indicators and noveltys: the sustainability of agroecossystems in agroecological transition on central territory of RSinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/doctoralThesisWizniewsky, José Geraldohttp://lattes.cnpq.br/8502017453675807Hillig, Claytonhttp://lattes.cnpq.br/3286366881277429Guimarães, Gisele Martinshttp://lattes.cnpq.br/5761884963281404Verona, Luiz Augusto Ferreirahttp://lattes.cnpq.br/2534829239522031Godoy, Wilson Itamarhttp://lattes.cnpq.br/9054824112491709http://lattes.cnpq.br/2122550065802033Pasqualotto, Nayara5001000000096000a62bf21-7074-4aa8-9e12-fd711bc14b86de6c1149-d234-4c00-a3e2-fbf26e7bee97a5057fa2-bd56-44d3-ac4f-107a63e812b2d40b7a7f-a087-4fcb-a469-b5756d986a6d54d94ba9-8cea-4cdd-8d95-b96743981c3ffdc1c1ef-bfd7-4b88-8471-6a7a644f858creponame:Biblioteca Digital de Teses e Dissertações do UFSMinstname:Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM)instacron:UFSMORIGINALTES_PPGER_2018_PASQUALOTTO_NAYARA.pdfTES_PPGER_2018_PASQUALOTTO_NAYARA.pdfTese de Doutoradoapplication/pdf6822101http://repositorio.ufsm.br/bitstream/1/19011/1/TES_PPGER_2018_PASQUALOTTO_NAYARA.pdfaf9ffa9e15ac94e7effca00fdbecf515MD51CC-LICENSElicense_rdflicense_rdfapplication/rdf+xml;
