Resumo: The cultivation of eucalipto has become an important economic activity in Brazil, due to its rapid growth, productive capacity, adaptability to different environments and great diversity of species, thus meeting the various sectors of industrial logging. However, with increasing areas of plantation Eucalyptus sp. entomological problems tend to increase in the same proportions. In this sense the population surveys are important because they make up one of the first steps of integrated pest management. Constant monitoring enables the proper conduct of a program for pest management, without interfering with the performance of the forest, increasing efficiency and reducing costs for pest control. Therefore, the objective of this study is to survey the population of the insect in Eucalyptus spp. And the identification of species of insect pests present in plantations of Eucalyptus spp. In the collection were used: pitfall trap, light trap and collection cup, three species of Eucalyptus: E. dunni. E. grandis and E. grandis x urophylla in stands with two and three years old. The stands are located on farms Taquari, São Francisco de Assis and the Cabanhada of Prata and Chica Barbosa, both in the city of Alegrete, Rio Grande do Sul The survey light trap were collected from 3.623 individuals belonging to eight orders (Blatodea, Coleoptera, Dermaptera, Hemiptera, Hymenoptera, Lepidoptera, Mantodea and Odonata), identifying six species of Lepidoptera defoliators: Automeris illustris, Eupseudosoma sp. Sabulodes sp. Sarsina sp. Thyrinteina arnobia and Agrotis ipsilon. and woodborer Phoracantha semipunctata. In the survey with pitfall trap were collected from 8.811 individuals belonging to 12 taxonomic groups, and groups Coleoptera, Hymenoptera, Diptera and had higher percentages of individuals collected, 34.1, 24.4 and 21.5% respectively. In trapping survey of soil, the only pest species was found Diloboderus abderus, having been collected 277 specimens and observed their higher occurrence in areas that had soil with higher percentages of clay and organic matter. This study also recorded the occurrence of two pest species Thaumastocoris peregrinus and Ctenarytaina spatulata collected in the canopy. For the observed data we can conclude that there are important crop pests of Eucalyptus in the region and thus require constant monitoring to ensure that these species do not cause damage to crops in the region.
