Resumo: The storage of energy has become an ally of the distribution systems, because they bring several benefits to the systems where they are inserted, such as possibilities for power management, voltage regulation, easy integration with distributed generation systems. In this work, a methodology was developed to explore the use and the benefits that Energy Storage Systems (ESSs) can bring to distribution systems. The insertion of ESSs in the distribution networks takes place from the control of loading and unloading of battery banks, which must respect a tolerable load range for the conservation and extension of useful life. The methodology aims at inserting the stored coefficient to search for smoothing the load curve of the distribution network, it is proposed the injection of stored energy of the ESSs in the schedules of maximum demand of the distribution network. The performance of the proposed methodology is verified through the MATLAB® and OpenDSS® software, in a modified 13-bus IEEE test system under different operating conditions.
