Resumo: The purpose of this research is to understand the assessment process carried out by the Special Educator of the student with disabilities, and what strategies are used to do so. To perform this research, interviews were used as instruments for the collection of information and data that were analyzed after their transcription. The interview was semi structured that allows the flexible conversation and adapted by the researcher without following totally the same direction. The research subjects were Special Educators who work in the municipal schools of Santa Maria. Participants were interviewed and answered some enlightening questions about student assessment. Four categories were listed for the analysis of the research, among them, the evaluation process of the students, the methodological strategies of evaluation of the Special Educator, the attendance of students without diagnosis of deficiency and the relation between the evaluations. Taking into account the arguments presented,it is understood that assessing the level of knowledge, individual abilities and difficulties related to learning are of great value, as these are fundamental for making adaptations in the process of teaching students' learning. As a result of the analyzes it was possible to identify that the modalities of evaluations should be carried out together to obtain greater results.

As a result of the analyzes it was possible to identify that the modalities of evaluations should be carried out together to obtain greater results.O objetivo dessa pesquisa constitui-se em compreender o processo de avaliação realizado pelo professor de Educação Especial do aluno com deficiência, e quais estratégias são utilizadas para tal.Para realizar esta pesquisa foram utilizadas entrevistas como instrumentos de coleta de informações edadosque foram analisados após a transcrição das mesmas. A entrevista realizada foi a semi estruturada que permite a conversa flexível e adaptada pelo pesquisador sem seguir totalmente uma mesma direção. Os sujeitos da pesquisa foram professores de Educação Especial que atuam nas escolas municipais de Santa Maria. Os participantes foram entrevistados e responderam algumas questões esclarecedoras sobre a avaliação dos alunos. Foram elencadas quatro categorias para análise da pesquisa, sendo elas, o processo avaliativo dos alunos, as estratégias metodológicas de avaliação do professor de Educação Especial, o atendimento de alunos sem diagnóstico de deficiência e a relação entre as avaliações. Levando em consideração os argumentos apresentados, entende-se que avaliar o nível de conhecimento, as habilidades e dificuldades individuais relacionados à aprendizagem são de grande valia, pois estas são fundamentais para realização de adaptaçõesno processo de ensino aprendizagem dos alunos.
