Resumo: This paper presents a test of the influence of ethanol extracts of the leaves, bark, roots, and seeds of plants pseudofruits young and adult Hovenia dulcis Thunb. obtained by maceration and percolation methods on seed germination and early growth of seedlings of Parapitadenia rigida (Benth.) Brenan, in tests with four concentrations, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% over the control (0%). The material morphological Hovenia dulcis was obtained from homogeneous population of 2.8 ha, established in spacing of 5 x 5 m in the State Foundation for Agricultural Research - FEPAGRO Forest, Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The concentrations considered 100% of the crude extract were prepared at 0.1 g of dry extract per mL of ethanol 95% pa. From the concentration of the more concentrated extracts (100% concentration) were obtained concentrations of 25%, 50% and 75%. For germination biotest, the substrates with P. rigida seeds were moistened with 0.302 ml / cell extracts at different concentrations, plus the control (0%) with distilled water also with 0.303 mL / cell. The experiment was conducted in four replications of 24 seeds (per cell) P. rigida distributed in containers with transparent substrates blotting paper cut into discs. The containers were kept in a climatic chamber BOD, with constant 12 h photoperiod, with ± 2 ° C isothermal in the 25th and irradiance of 45 μmol.ms-1 for five days. For the initial growth bioassays were performed four repetitions of 10 seeds (one per cell). After germination, seedlings were transplanted to containers with cells spaced substratratos vermiculite (60%) plus Plant-Max ® (40%), moistened with 3 ml / cell of all concentrations of the extracts were kept in air-conditioned camera BOD under the same conditions described for seed germination for 14 days. The extracts obtained from mature leaves of Hovenia dulcis by both methods of maceration and percolation in 100% concentration of the extracts that were most affected the percentage of germination of P. rigida, resulting in abnormal seedlings, although a decrease in percentage of germination from 50% concentration. At a concentration of 25% occurred in both the hormesis effect on radicle and hypocotyl of the seedlings. Bioassays for the initial growth of seedlings, mature root extracts, obtained by the two extraction methods were the most influenced the development of the radicle, hypocotyl and seedling dry weight of P. rigida, starting abnormalities and death of seedlings from the concentration of 50%. According to the results obtained it can be concluded that the species Hovenia dulcis cause allelopathic effects of extracts on germination and early growth of seedlings of Parapiptadenia rigida.

According to the results obtained it can be concluded that the species Hovenia dulcis cause allelopathic effects of extracts on germination and early growth of seedlings of Parapiptadenia rigida.
