Resumo: Knowledge has an important role in promoting the development of countries and stimulates the improvement of people's life quality. In Brazil, the main place where someone can produce and disseminate knowledge is the university. These institutions have explicitly in their institutional philosophies the mission to train professionals, to generate and to disseminate scientific, technological and cultural knowledge. The relevance from produced and disseminated knowledge in universities is guided by an efficient, effective and efficient management. From this view, the management for sustainability has the purpose to contribute for quality of higher education through the inseparable development from teaching, research and extension permeated by the dimensions of sustainability. However, it is observed that studies about systems, techniques and management tools for sustainability of knowledge in universities are still incipient. Therefore, the objective of this research was to develop a modeling of a management system for the sustainability of knowledge in universities. The design pilot model was developed for the campus Palmeira das Missões, from the Universidade Federal de Santa Maria. The study was conducted in the Gabinete de Projetos (GAP) of that teaching unit, once the produced knowledge at the university study object is formalized through projects and its products (publications, patents, lectures, etc.). The modeling of survey was constructed by defining the dimensions of sustainability and their analysis criteria. The dimensions chosen according to the characteristics of the system to be analyzed were: Environmental, Economic, Social, Cultural, Territorial and Management Competence. Modeling research integrated three modules: the mapping of the development project process in the unit (Motivation, Preparation, Registration, Enforcement, Evaluation and Dissemination); the evaluation of dissemination levels from the produced knowledge (high, medium, low and very low); and the evaluation from sustainability of knowledge dimensions. In order to implement the modeling, it was proposed a plan which covers five phases. From operationalization of modules from the management system, it was identified some critical factors. In mapping the development of projects, it was found problematic variables, especially in the stages of Preparation, Registration, Implementation and Evaluation. The dissemination of scientific production was ranked as Low, once that the most part was published in Conferences, Symposiums and Seminars, just prioritizing the scientific community. In relation to the sustainability of knowledge, it was found that most projects are in accordance to the established criteria, however, some issues need to be reassessed, especially in relation to the Competence Management dimension and the Environmental dimension. From the resulting diagnosis of modeling proposals, it was built purposes for sustainability management of the produced knowledge in the researched institution. This study contributes to instigate a reflection about the academic productivism and the need to qualify the knowledge produced in universities.

No Brasil o principal local onde se produz e dissemina conhecimentos é a universidade. Essas instituições possuem de forma explícita em suas filosofias institucionais a missão precípua de formar profissionais, gerar e disseminar conhecimentos científicos, tecnológicos e culturais. A relevância do conhecimento produzido e disseminado nas universidades é pautado por uma gestão eficiente, eficaz e efetiva. Sob este prisma, a gestão para a sustentabilidade têm o propósito de contribuir para a qualidade da educação superior, por meio do desenvolvimento indissociável do ensino, pesquisa e extensão permeada pelas dimensões da sustentabilidade. No entanto, observa-se que os estudos sobre sistemas, técnicas e ferramentas de gestão para a sustentabilidade do conhecimento em universidades são ainda incipientes. Para tanto, o objetivo geral desta pesquisa foi desenvolver uma modelagem de um sistema de gestão para a sustentabilidade do conhecimento em universidades. O desenho piloto da modelagem foi desenvolvido para o Campus de Palmeira das Missões, da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria. O estudo foi realizado no Gabinete de Projetos (GAP) da referida unidade de ensino, visto que o conhecimento produzido na universidade objeto de estudo é formalizado por meio de projetos e seus produtos (publicações, patentes, palestras, entre outros). A modelagem da pesquisa foi construída definindo-se as dimensões da sustentabilidade e seus critérios de análise. As dimensões escolhidas, de acordo com as características do sistema a ser analisado, foram: Ambiental, Econômica, Social, Cultural, Territorial e Competência de Gestão. A modelagem da pesquisa integrou três módulos: o mapeamento do processo de desenvolvimento de projetos na unidade (Motivação, Elaboração, Registro, Execução, Avaliação e Divulgação); a avaliação dos níveis de divulgação do conhecimento produzido (alto, médio, baixo e muito baixo); e a avaliação das dimensões da sustentabilidade do conhecimento. Para a implementação da modelagem foi proposto um plano, abrangendo cinco fases. A partir operacionalização dos módulos do sistema de gestão foram identificados alguns fatores críticos. No mapeamento do desenvolvimento dos projetos, constatou-se variáveis problemáticas, principalmente nas etapas de Elaboração, Registro, Execução e Avaliação. A divulgação da produção científica classificou-se como Baixa, tendo em vista que em sua maioria foi veiculada em Congressos, Simpósios e Seminários, priorizando apenas a comunidade científica. Em relação à sustentabilidade do conhecimento, verificou-se que em sua maioria os projetos se enquadram nos critérios estabelecidos, entretanto, algumas questões precisam ser reavaliadas, especialmente com relação à dimensão Competência de Gestão e a dimensão Ambiental. A partir do diagnóstico resultante da modelagem foram construídas propostas para a gestão da sustentabilidade do conhecimento produzido na instituição pesquisada.
