Resumo: Nutritional restriction during fetal development has negative effects on its growth and development, which can compromise its performance. However, scientific studies that measured the extent of this compromise are scarce, inconsistent, and non-existent in the case of long-term evaluations. Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate the long-term impacts of nutritional levels during fetal development of beef cows on their productive and reproductive performance, as well as the impacts on the animals they generate. The treatments were formed according to the nutritional level during the final third of fetal development of cows: Low (cows allocated to native pasture and subjected to mild nutritional restriction), Medium (cows allocated to native pasture and supplemented to meet 100% of maintenance requirements), and High (cows allocated to native pasture and supplemented to meet 150% of maintenance requirements). Forty cows and the 64 calves they produced after being subjected to three reproductive periods were used. The experimental design used was completely randomized, with a variable number of repetitions per treatment, and the collected data were tested for normality and subsequently subjected to variance analysis by the F test, and the means compared by the Tukey test at a 5% level of probability. There was no difference in birth weight of beef cows and the birth weight of their calves as a function of the evaluated treatments. Cows in the High group had a higher average daily gain in live weight during the postnatal period than those in the Low group. This result impacted the body condition score at the end of the first reproductive period and consequently, there were higher pregnancy rates and calf production in the High treatment compared to the Low treatment. In addition, calves from cows in the High treatment also showed better postnatal development compared to calves from the Low treatment.

Contudo, trabalhos científicos que mensuraram o tamanho desse comprometimento são escassos e inconsistentes, além de inexistentes no caso de avaliações a longo prazo. Logo, o objetivo deste trabalho foi de avaliar os impactos do nível nutricional durante a formação fetal da vaca de corte sobre o seu desempenho produtivo, reprodutivo e os impactos nos animais por ela gerados. Os tratamentos foram formados de acordo com o nível nutricional durante o terço final da formação fetal das vacas em: Baixo (vacas alocadas em pastagem nativa e submetidas, a uma leve restrição nutricional), Médio (vacas alocadas em pastagem nativa e suplementadas para atender 100% das exigências de mantença) e Alto (vacas alocadas em pastagem nativa e suplementadas para atender 150% das exigências de mantença). Foram utilizadas 40 vacas e os 64 bezerros que estas produziram após serem submetidas a três períodos reprodutivos. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o inteiramente casualizado, com número variável de repetições por tratamento e os dados coletados testados quanto à normalidade, sendo posteriormente submetidos à análise de variância pelo teste F e as médias comparadas pelo teste de Tukey à nível de 5% de probabilidade. Não houve diferença no peso ao nascimento das vacas de corte e no peso ao nascimento dos bezerros por elas gerados em função dos tratamentos avaliados. As vacas do grupo Alto tiveram maior ganho médio diário de peso vivo no período pós-natal em relação as do grupo Baixo. Este resultado impactou o escore de condição corporal ao final do primeiro período reprodutivo e consequentemente, houve maiores taxas de prenhez e produção de bezerros no tratamento Alto em relação ao Baixo. Além disso, os bezerros oriundos de vacas do tratamento Alto também apresentaram melhor desenvolvimento pós-natal em relação aos bezerros de vacas Baixo. O nível nutricional durante o terço final da formação fetal impacta o desempenho produtivo, os índices reprodutivos da vaca de corte e o desempenho dos bezerros que por ela são gerados.Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPESporUniversidade Federal de Santa MariaCentro de Ciências RuraisPrograma de Pós-Graduação em ZootecniaUFSMBrasilZootecniaAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 Internationalhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessCondição corporal maternaProgramação fetalSuplementaçãoTerço final de gestaçãoFetal programmingFinal third of pregnancyMaternal body conditionSupplementationCNPQ::CIENCIAS AGRARIAS::ZOOTECNIANível nutricional na gestação de vacas de corte: eficiência reprodutiva e produtiva da proleNutritional level in the pregnancy of beef cows: reproductive and productive efficiency of the offspringinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/doctoralThesisAlves Filho, Dari Celestinohttp://lattes.cnpq.br/2140386505744337Pizzuti, Luiz Ângelo DamianPacheco, Rangel FernandesVaz, Ricardo ZambardaCallegaro, Álisson Marianhttp://lattes.cnpq.br/4305585329001704Adams, Sander Martinho500400000002600600600600600600600e80896c6-107c-4173-83b3-2f62810c5f9ca00d7591-2ac5-4ab7-9101-dfe9cc18094b8e190083-03eb-456d-85e0-5718af789652ae60aee7-e466-4572-9b9a-032a6103590e88c55672-06a2-4082-8ed5-14990db7a941327d2385-7322-4241-9e28-b33e1f3be53breponame:Biblioteca Digital de Teses e Dissertações do UFSMinstname:Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM)instacron:UFSMORIGINALTES_PPGZOOTECNIA_2023_ADAMS_SANDER.pdfTES_PPGZOOTECNIA_2023_ADAMS_SANDER.pdfTese de doutoradoapplication/pdf1412150http://repositorio.ufsm.br/bitstream/1/28889/1/TES_PPGZOOTECNIA_2023_ADAMS_SANDER.pdfd7687afa73c48f81fd2d8f626023591bMD51CC-LICENSElicense_rdflicense_rdfapplication/rdf+xml;
