Resumo: | This study aimed to find out how parents perceive the information they received from nurses during the hospital stay of their children and identify what information nurses indicate they supply to the parents. We carried out a descriptive-exploratory study with a quantitative approach at the pediatric internment units of a teaching hospital in the city of São Paulo, interviewing 50 parents whose children were hospitalized and 12 nurses working at these units. The results showed that parents were not completely satisfied with the information received from the nurses during the children's stay in hospital. The nurses mainly provided information to the parents about rules and routines, rights and obligations, reasons for procedures and parents' participation in care for the child. Parents asked the nurses information about the duration of their child`s hospitalization, progression of the disease, medication and treatment. |

Parents asked the nurses information about the duration of their child`s hospitalization, progression of the disease, medication and treatment.Este estudio tuvo como objetivos conocer la percepción de los padres cuanto al tipo de informaciones recibidas de las enfermeras durante la permanencia de su hijo en el hospital e identificar las informaciones que las enfermeras indican proveer a los padres. Se realizó un estudio exploratorio-descriptivo, con aproximación cuantitativa, en las unidades de internación pediátrica de un hospital de enseñanza en la ciudad de São Paulo, Brasil. Entrevistamos a 50 padres cuyos hijos estuvieron hospitalizados y 12 enfermeras que trabajaban en esas unidades de internación pediátrica. Los resultados evidenciaron que los padres no estaban totalmente satisfechos con las informaciones recibidas durante la hospitalización del hijo. Las informaciones proveídas a los padres por las enfermeras eran principalmente sobre reglas y rutinas, derechos y deberes, motivos de los procedimientos y participación de los padres en la atención al hijo hospitalizado. Los padres solicitan de las enfermeras informaciones sobre el tiempo de hospitalización, evolución de la enfermedad, medicación y tratamiento de su hijo.Este estudo teve como objetivos conhecer a percepção dos pais quanto ao tipo de informações recebidas das enfermeiras durante a permanência do filho no hospital e identificar as informações que as enfermeiras referem fornecer aos pais. É um estudo exploratório-descritivo, com abordagem quantitativa, realizado nas unidades de internação pediátrica em um hospital de ensino da cidade de São Paulo. Foram entrevistados 50 pais que estavam com seus filhos hospitalizados e 12 enfermeiras que trabalhavam nessas unidades de internação pediátrica.
