Resumo: | Over the past years, the personal relationships, the view of the world and the future have had several transformations due to the countless changes in society. The young population is the most exposed group to situations of vulnerability and uncertainties. Along this line, the main objective of this study is to identify and analyze the development (or not) of a Life Projects by adolescents as well as their understanding of the theme and the relationship between the presence or absence of a Life Project and its connection to risky behaviors. For this, the method used was a questionnaire composed of 4 validated scales (self-esteem, subjective well-being, satisfaction with life and future expectations), 15 items from the Brazilian Youth Questionnaire and 7 questions about Life Project were selected. This instrument was applied to 497 students from the 6th grade of Element School to students of High School, that means young people aged from 11 to 18 years old, of both sexes, at two public schools located in the city of Guarulhos. For data analysis, the statistical computer program Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) was used and for content analysis, a lexical and contextual analysis was performed in an automatic system using the Iramuteq software that uses the support of the statistical package R to perform the content analysis. Regarding the results, we can highlight that the adolescents present reasonable knowledge about the theme and that 59.3% of the participants have a Life Project somehow, while 40.7% state that they do not. Among those who have a Life Project, there was a great concern about work and studies followed by other objectives in life. Parents are identified as the main promoters of the Life Project development. As for the risky behaviors, a significant difference is identified related to the first sexual intercourse. An alarming fact is that more than half of the adolescents showed low self-esteem, and this fact was not related to having or not having a Life Project. In terms of life satisfaction that is evident the fact of having a Life Project contributes to greater contentment with life itself, especially with regard to peers, school and general sense of satisfaction. Some confusion in the construction of the adolescents' ideas are also identified related to the search for traditional professions, with little or no intervention on the topic. We consider that Life Projects are of paramount importance in the wholesome education of adolescents and that they bring benefits related to health, well-being and protection. In addition, the construction of a Life Project takes place at the intersection between family, school life and the social context in which the adolescent is usually inserted and that there is a real need for interventions with adolescents regarding to the theme. Further more, teenagers need attention when it comes to psychological aspects that may be at unsatisfactory levels in ways that may lead to an inclination towards risky behaviors. |
