Introduction: In 2015, abdominoplasty has reached fourth place in the ranking of most common plastic surgeries in the world, according to data from the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. Many surgical techniques aim at restoring the abdominal outline. The indication of the technique to be used must aim at improving the individual deformity present in the abdomen. The marking for abdominoplasty is actualy done by using a ruler, protractor, caliper, nylon string, stick, pens and/or methylene blue, according to the preference of the surgeon. Objective: Produce create a surgical instrument to optimize the time used to mark the abdominoplasty procedure. Method: The study was approved by the Ethics Committee in Research. Graphic designs were developed to identify each part of the instrument, later conducting a survey of anteriority and requesting a patent. Results: An instrument for marking abdominoplasty was developed, constituting of a horizontal ruler attached to a vertical ruler at its intermediate point, and two revolving rulers with base protractor. All these parts are specified in millimeters, with central opening, which allows tracing lines in this region and, consequently, mark the abdominoplasty procedure. Conclusion: The instrument of this study was created to minimize the amount of material used and to decrise the marking time he abdominoplasty.
