Resumo: The results of the research on the intervention indicated that 87.5% of the patients had improved sexual quality of life, but not all of them had penile penetration (Table 2). The improvements in the 2 patients who abandoned treatment were not recorded, since they did not respond to the letter and the group-ending interview. Among other aspects, it was observed that in one of the groups in the first visits the theme that vaginismus occupied everything in the life of each patient was very present. Many claimed that they would only start working, driving cars, or getting better after they had "cured" of vaginismus. Thus, there was a recognition that vaginismus was used to conceal other issues in the life of each such as: the fear of relating to the other, the fear of being penetrated, not being a girl and so on. The fact that they touched the genitalia outwardly was something very celebrated among the participants of the group, since many of them had never even looked in the mirror; as one of the participants in the group reported that at the end of the visits she was able to look at herself and this was a breakthrough. Each step was very much celebrated. Once they arrived at the group without taking off their clothes in front of the doctors to gynecological examination, in one of the groups one of the participants reported that he was able to undress and open his leg to look in the mirror and at this moment felt a wind passing, "I soon closed my leg, I was afraid." One purpose of the intervention was to try to reduce the relevance of vaginismus in their lives so that they could come into contact with sexuality in a healthier way.

One purpose of the intervention was to try to reduce the relevance of vaginismus in their lives so that they could come into contact with sexuality in a healthier way.
