ENGLISH TEACHING AT SUBURBAN STATE SCHOOLS IN THE NORTH OF MATO GROSSO: WHAT STORIES DO SECONDARY EDUCATION TEACHERS DRAW?

Resumo: In this paper, we discuss the teaching of English in the outskirts of Sinop (MT). We seek to understand the experience of teaching the language in suburban public schools from the perspective of three teachers. We mobilize studies about the role of English in contemporary society and teaching English in public schools. We adopted a narrative-visual approach, asking teachers to represent their actions in the form of drawings. The analysis of this material uses a holistic perspective focusing on content. The visual narratives illustrate challenges faced by teachers.

Buscamos compreender a experiência de ensinar o idioma em escolas públicas de periferia a partir da perspectiva de três professoras. Mobilizamos estudos acerca do papel do inglês na sociedade contemporânea e ensino de inglês na escola pública. Adotamos abordagem narrativo-visual solicitando às professoras que representassem suas atuações na forma de desenhos. A análise desse material se vale de perspectiva holística com foco no conteúdo.
