Resumo: Research on memory is of great interest to countries that were under dictatorial regimes. The trauma does not cease at the end of an oppressive state, and the dead and missing continue to affect those who survived and their descendants. This article discusses memory and post-memory in the novel El mar y la serpiente, by the Argentine writer Paula Bombara. The focus of the reflections is built from the perspective that the author develops a fiction around the protagonist, intending to rediscover her personal narrative and review what was erased by the official story.

Lo traumático no cesa al final de un estado opresor y los muertos y desaparecidos continúan afectando a los que sobrevivieron y a sus descendientes. En este artículo se discute la memoria y la post-memoria en la novela El mar y la serpiente, de la escritora argentina Paula Bombara. El foco de las reflexiones se construye bajo la perspectiva que la autora elabora una ficcionalidad alrededor de la protagonista con el intuito de reencontrar su narrativa personal y revisar lo borrado por la historia oficial.A pesquisa sobre memória é de grande interesse para os países que estiveram sob regimes ditatoriais. O traumático não para no final de um estado opressor e os mortos e desaparecidos continuam a afetar aqueles que sobreviveram e seus descendentes. Este artigo discute memória e pós-memória no romance O Mar e a Serpente, da escritora argentina Paula Bombara.
