Resumo: This research presents the stylistic investigation of the construction of the main character’s identity from Invisible Man. The corpus of analysis comprises the speeches of the book’s characters analyzed from the perspective of the Systemic-Functional Linguistics framework and its systems, related to the theme of identity in a text. The results indicate contracting resources, however, complementary to the voice in dialogue used by the homodiegetic narrator as a narrative subjective voice.

O corpus de análise constitui-se das falas de personagens da obra, analisadas a partir de sistemas linguísticos e pautadas pelo arcabouço da Linguística Sistêmico-Funcional, sistemas os quais lidam com a temática da identidade em um texto literário.
