CORONELS, NEWSPAPERS AND THE FORMATION OF THE MUNICIPALITIES IN THE AMAZON

Resumo: This article intends to identify some of the journalistic activities related to coronels in the municipalities of the Amazon region. Through the exploration of newspapers from the 1880s to the 1920s, he sought to detect the links between the politics monopolized by the coronel and the extension of a web of journalistic writings. In a second moment, through the discourse of the newspapers, questions the social composition of the mutant villages that spread along the huge Amazon basin. For that, ten newspapers were selected in seven municipalities, through which the mentions to the municipal intendancy were analyzed. The study was elaborated from two main thematic axes: the political configuration of this interior press and a brief exploration in the social tracts of the towns and cities.   KEYWORDS: Amazonas; Rubber cycle; Journalism; Colonelism; County.

Através de exploração de jornais no período de 1880 a 1920, busca detectar os vínculos entre a política monopolizada pelo coronel e a extensão de uma teia de escritos jornalísticos. Num segundo momento, através do discurso dos jornais, lança questionamentos sobre a composição social dos vilarejos mutantes que se espalham ao longo da enorme bacia hidrográfica amazônica. Para tanto, foram selecionados dez jornais em sete municípios, através dos quais se analisou as menções à intendência municipal ou à prefeitura.
