BRAZILIAN FOREST CODE AND SUSTAINABILITY: in interpretation from discussion analysis

This article reports the application of Discourse Analysis (AD) on the legislative construction of the New Brazilian Forest Code, considering the systemic thinking of Guerreiro Ramos. AD is a complex and interdisciplinary methodology. From this true blend of knowledge, the AD assumes that we are interactive beings, allocated in a society of interests, in a complex web of uncertain results. Empirically the AD was made through journalistic texts, public hearings, open letters from the main social actors, both politicians, environmentalists, and other representatives of organized civil society. On the one hand the ruralists, fruit of the colonialist policies that donated latifúndios for the families of the nobility, and on the other the environmentalists with their conservationist ideas. However, applying the thinking of Guerreiro Ramos, both positions present an extremist characteristic that does not value a substantive rationality so necessary for the search of consensuses for sustainability.
