THE ‘FESTIVALIZATION’ OF CULTURE AND THE SOCIETY

Resumo: The article reflects on the multiplication of festivals in several cities of the globe and the variety of themes they address, making them solidified as powerful means of communication. The format, which roots are lost in the haze of the past, refreshes itself and intermingles to modern  technologies, not only to rebuild the society as proposed by Émile Durkheim. We emphasize the people’s search for new experiences, emotions and knowledge and the necessity of places to reinvent themselves, after being affected by deindustrialization and by eviction. These places seem to believe festivals are an opportunity to acquire – or regain – its economic and cultural vitality.

El formato, cuyas raíces se pierden en las nieblas del pasado, se revigora y se entrelaza a las modernas tecnologías no solo para rehacer la sociedad, tal como propone Émile Durkheim. Destacamos la búsqueda del público por nuevas experiencias, emociones y conocimiento, yendo al encuentro de la necesidad de recreación de sitios afectados por la desindustrialización y por sitios desocupados, que encontraron en los festivales la oportunidad de obtener – o recuperar – su vigor económico y cultural.  O artigo aborda a multiplicação dos festivais em cidades de diversas partes do globo e a ampliação dos temas que estes abordam, consolidando-se como potentes instrumentos de comunicação. O formato, cujas raízes se perdem nas brumas do passado, se revigora e entrelaça-se às modernas tecnologias não só para refazer a sociedade, tal como propõe Émile Durkheim.
