Resumo: This article aims to discuss journalism in the formation of public opinion with a focus on environmental issues. The analysis includes coverage of three Amapá news sites on the extinction of the National Reserve of Cobres Associados (Renca), in the Amazon, in August 2017, according to the functional triad of environmental journalism (informative, pedagogical and political). Twenty texts published by G1 Amapá, Diário do Amapá and SelesNafes.Com were verified between 23 and 30 of said month after the presidential decree that extinguished the reservation. The discussion pointed to the predominance of political content, but in its party aspect, and the framework against the measure of the Planalto Palace.   KEYWORDS: environmental journalism; journalism and public opinion; Amazônia; environment.
