MANIFESTATIONS RELATED TO THE RURAL IN SMALL CITIES OF RIO GRANDE DO SUL, BRAZIL: the example of the Fourth Community of Italian Immigration

Resumo: Atualmente muitas são as tentativas de se definir o que é o rural e o que é o urbano no contexto acadêmico. A concepção tradicional do rural como o lugar do atraso e do urbano como o lugar do progresso, não pode mais ser tida como absoluta, pois esses espaços têm passado por profundas transformações. Contudo, ainda é possível encontrar pequenos municípios que devido a presença marcante das ruralidades, podem ser definidos como municípios rurais. É nesse sentido que este artigo pretende identificar as ruralidades presentes em sete pequenos municípios do Rio Grande do Sul. Esses municípios que fazem parte da chamada região da Quarta Colônia de Imigração Italiana, onde ainda hoje se preservam os costumes dos antepassados que colonizaram a região.
