Resumo: The objective of this study is to present the main public policies for the LGBT (lesbian, gay,bisexual, transsexual, transvestite, and transgender) population in Brazil and the main obstaclesfor their effectiveness. With a systematic literature review, the scientific production availableat Portal de Periódicos da CAPES and Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde- published between 2008and 2018- was mapped, using the following combination of descriptors: “public policies” and“LGBT”. From a total of 83 studies, after analyzing inclusion criteria, 10 were selected for thepresent review. Results present the main public policies developed for the LGBT population,with the majority related to health. The main obstacles preventing public policies effectivenessinclude prejudice and lack of preparation coming from professionals to deal with thespecificities of the referred community.

Por meio de uma revisão sistemática da literatura, mapeou-se a produção científica disponível no Portal de Periódicos da CAPES e na Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde- publicada entre 2008 e 2018- com a seguinte combinação de descritores: “políticas públicas” e “LGBT”. De um total bruto de 83 trabalhos, após análise dos critérios de inclusão, 10 foram selecionados para compor a presente revisão. Os resultados apresentam as principais políticas públicas desenvolvidas para o público LGBT, sendo a maioria relacionada à saúde.
