Resumo: The goal of this article is to investigate how the construction with subject noun phrase adjacent to the co-referent pronoun is used in Brazilian Portuguese (BP). The pioneering work was Pontes (1987) considers it as construction to the left dislocation of subject and other authors follow Pontes (cf., e.g., CALLOU et al., 2002[1993]; DUARTE, 1995; MORAES; ORSINI, 2003), but some differentiate constructions with left dislocation of subject from constructions with double subject (cf. COSTA; DUARTE; SILVA, 2004; QUAREZEMIN, 2018; 2019). In this work, we investigate the occurrences of the construction found in a sample of spoken language corpus. We focus on prosodic, syntactic and informational/discursive aspects. The results show us that construction is frequent and that most occurrences do not register a pause between the noun phrase and the pronoun. By contrasting the constructions with the prosodic pause with those without a pause, we found that the second construction can convey new information, while the first cannot. Therefore, constructions without pause are innovative, as they do not necessarily have topic properties, and need to be considered as a possibility of manifestation of the subject in current Brazilian Portuguese, the subject duplication via pronoun.
