Discovering the specialized lexicon of the environment: a lexical-semantic approach

: In this paper we present a linguistic description of the specialized lexicon accounting for terms of the environment in Brazilian Portuguese based on the lexico-semantic approach for Terminology (L’HOMME, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2020; L’HOMME; ROBICHAUD; SUBIRATS, 2014, 2020). This research is carried out in collaboration with DiCoEnviro (Dictionnaire Fondamental de l’Environnment – Fundamental Dictionary on the environment, a multilingual terminological resource developed by the Observatoire de Linguistique Sens Texte at the University of Montreal, Canada) to prepare the Portuguese version of the dictionary. The methodology applied is lexicon-driven and bottom-up by means of which terms are extracted, selected and analysed.  We present the three levels of linguistic description in DiCoEnviro: i) a lexical resource, ii) contextual annotations and iii) semantic frames module.  Our research is an ongoing project to increase the number of entries, lexical relations and semantic frames that represent the environment in the Portuguese version of DiCoEnviro.
