Resumo: In this paper, we syntactically analyse sentences of Contemporary Brazilian Portuguese with the position on the left of the verb lexically overt by subjects, topics and subject-topics. According to several researches, this language has failed to authorize null-subjects, unlike the European Portuguese. Following assumptions of generative theory (CHOMSKY, 1995, 2005), from the qualitative and descriptive research data of orality, we propose the factoring of the uninterpretable feature-EPP, which is responsible for lexical occupation of the subject – Spec-TP –, in four features: [uP], [uD], [uFoc] and [uTop]. The subdivision EPP allows to explain the appearance and variation of XPs “merged” to the subject position in BP.
