Resumo: This article aims to make a reflective relationship between Chomsky’s linguistic competence (1978) and Maingueneau’s discursive competence, presenting points of convergence and divergence between the both notions, able to confirm the relevance and theoretical importance of trying to join two very antagonistic theories: the generativism and the French speech analysis. First, it will be explained the concept of linguistic competence to Chomsky (1978), after, in a second stage, will be explained the concept of discursive competence to Maingueneau (2008) and at the end, a third step, it will be presented a relationship and a reflection between this two concepts of competence, watching if that these two notions and theories are or are not mutually excluded.

First, it will be explained the concept of linguistic competence to Chomsky (1978), after, in a second stage, will be explained the concept of discursive competence to Maingueneau (2008) and at the end, a third step, it will be presented a relationship and a reflection between this two concepts of competence, watching if that these two notions and theories are or are not mutually excluded.O presente trabalho tem o objetivo de fazer uma relação reflexiva entre as noções de competência linguística de Noam Chomsky (1978) e as noções de competência discursiva de Dominique Maingueneau (2008), apresentando pontos de convergência e de divergência entre as duas noções, capazes de confirmar a pertinência e importância teórica de se tentar dialogar duas teorias bastante antagônicas entre si, em princípio: o Gerativismo e a Análise do Discurso de linha francesa.
