Resumo: This paper presents part of the study developed within the author's doctoral thesis. Based on the Émile Benveniste's enunciative theory and in the anthropological dimension of discourse that can be inferred from his approach, the study explores the way a student - because of a transition from an education level to another -, through the occupation of a new position in society, discloses a renewed position of speaker in discourse. For this purpose, reports originating from two verbal interlocutions with a student who participated in the Portuguese Language workshop of the Program of Support to Graduation from Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul were analyzed. The analysis of these facts reveals that, because the student establishes herself in new positions concerning educational levels in which she is inserted, there are changes in her relations with others and with language, which comprises culture; therefore, this process is reflected in her new positions of speaker in discourse, enabling the double-nature construction (individual and social) that language establishes on humankind.
