Resumo: This article aims to demonstrate that the dialogism is the constitutive principle of the language and identity relationship, considering the perspective of Applied Linguistics, in the search to establish theoretical and methodological mechanisms that can sustain the identity as a discursive practice. Our contribution is based on the theoretical principle by which we interpret this relationship, establishing an interface between the studies of the Dialogical Theory of Discourse (BAKHTIN/VOLOCHÍNOV, 2006; BAKHTIN, 1997; BAKHTIN, 1981) with the theory of identity representations (RIBEIRO, 2017; ORR, 2007, MARKOVÁ, 2007) and the alterity relationship in its constitution. We believe that it is possible to establish such relations searching the the concept of social identity in a dialogical perspective of language (re)interpretation, supporting the thesis that the identity representations are discursively (re)constructed.
