Resumo: With the recent studies on literacy practices in multi/hypermedia environments, it has become more of a challenge to rethink both theoretically and practically the teaching of Literature in schools. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to analyze the displacements and ruptures caused in the approach of the literary text when inserted within a project of construction of a transmedia storytelling. It is an action research carried out with students in their last year of middle school, whose project consists of reading and adapting the novel “Senhora”, by José de Alencar, into a short film. The approach was documented through audio-visual recordings and the researcher’s field diary. When contrasting the novel with the short film produced by the students, we looked at the main differences between the two works, and, based on the records collected in the field, we sought to analyze the reading process that produced these changes in the film. The theoretical foundation took into account the postulates of subjective reading (LANGLADE, 2013, JOUVE, 2013), as well the theoretical reflections about collections based on García-Canclini (1989). As a result, we concluded that the insertion of transmedia storytelling in Literature not only allows students to read the novel, but also to produce a new text from it; (and that is) mainly through relating and creating intertextual relations between the story created by José Alencar and their reading collection repertoires, especially in respect to television and the motion pictures/movie theater/cinema.. Thus, the transmedia storytelling produced by the students broke the protective glass built around the novel, and instead ensured the construction of new senses/meanings from it, which were redefined and (re)appropriated by the students.
