Agroecological fairs: amazonian women strengthening exchanges and knowledges

The Agroecology Fairs Project, carried out with Amazonian women, by the State University of Amazonas, had the purpose of reaching the academic community, other institutions and women from traditional indigenous and non-indigenous communities through university extension. The project with women, based on agroecological and feminist premises, shows the associative dynamics through ecological methods, aiming at sustainability. Through meetings and reunions, agroecological fairs are organized as well as the selection of women who will market their products. The fairs are, thus, a form of female – economic and social – empowerment, which serve as an option of extra income for families, who live in the region of the middle Solimões/Amazon. In this text, we present the result of the project, describing the construction methodology of the fairs, building a reflective experience report and presenting conclusive notes on the importance of the work performed in the community.
