Resumo: The consequences of social inequality with the new Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic were severe, especially in peripheral societies, such as Brazil. This context has contributed to the expression of affection and forms of sociability based on dependence and fear. The advance of fundamentalist churches, in turn, has collaborated with the formation of superstitious subjects and groups. The purpose of this essay is to discuss aspects of the impregnation of religious morals in political and community practice in contexts of social inequality affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Based on Spinoza's thinking, we understand that the notion of freedom is the basis for building citizen subjects who, collectively, are empowered. In this way, we bring elements that add to the ways of facing fatalism guided by the strengthening of citizen psychosocial processes. Thus, from the perspective of community social psychology, we think of destabilizing categories, that is, that problematize and denaturalize current social and ethical-moral values.
