Resumo: The objective of this work is to describe an experience of popular education and health promotion in a FHU in the city of Catalão, Goiás, Brazil. This is an activity linked to the Health Promotion discipline of the 2nd semester of the Nursing Course at the Federal University of Goiás - Regional Catalão (now the Federal University of Catalão), held between October 2017 and February 2018. The theoretical framework of health promotion and popular education in the Unified Health System (SUS) was used. The experience has shown that there is still difficulty understanding the concept of health promotion; that popular knowledge in the community and interprofessional, collaborative and intersectoral actions are fundamental for the consolidation of the National Policy of Popular Education in Health (PNEPS) and the National Health Promotion Policy (PNPS) in SUS.

Trata-se de uma atividade vinculada à disciplina de Promoção da Saúde do 2º semestre do Curso de Enfermagem da Universidade Federal de Goiás - Regional Catalão (hoje Universidade Federal de Catalão), realizado entre outubro de 2017 e fevereiro de 2018. Utilizou-se o referencial teórico da promoção da saúde e da educação popular no Sistema único de Saúde (SUS).
