Resumo: The objective of this research was to study the effect of seed germination in common and treated with plating and scarification, in different Brachiaria spp. and Panicum spp. In the germination test were used forage seeds of the following species: brachiária (B. decumbens, B. brizantha and B. humidicola cv. Piatã) and Panicum maximum (cv. Mombasa, Tanzania and Massai). For the common seeds was only achieved the removal of impurities, which were submitted twice to the blower, the same happened for scarification. The seeds were scarified by means of sulfuric acid (H2SO4) and the coated was used lime, plaster, glue, macronutrients and micronutrients. The experiment was a factorial 6x3 (six grasses and three seed treatments), constituting 18 treatments with four replications, arranged in blocks, making a total of 1,800 seeds to be analyzed by applying the Tukey test (p

Piatã) e cultivares de Panicum maximum (Mombaça, Tanzânia e Massai). Para as sementes comuns foi realizada apenas a retirada das impurezas, submetendo-as duas vezes ao soprador. As sementes foram escarificadas por meio de ácido sulfúrico (H2SO4) e o revestimento utilizando cal, gesso, cola, macro e micronutrientes.
