Resumo: This article presents the first set of rock records produced by the independent record company Baratos Afins in the 1980s in order to identify the main elements in its formation years. My study is based on empirical data, on a wider debate about independent record companies, and on characteristics of the Brazilian case in a period marked by a clear intensification of globalized exchanges of cultural references and products.
