Arte e psiquiatria: um diálogo com artistas plásticos

O recorte deste estudo foi a iniciativa pioneira de Osório Cesar em colaboração com outros profi ssionais como Mário Yahn de levar artistas plásticos para orientarem o trabalho em desenho e pintura com os internos do Hospital Psiquiátrico de Juqueri em Franco da Rocha, SP na virada da década de 1950. O objetivo deste trabalho é discutir a participação de três artistas plásticos, Maria Leontina, Clélia Rocha e Moacyr Rocha, na formação da Escola Livre de Artes Plásticas do Juqueri, um ateliê de artes criado para atender a população de esquizofrênicos. Distanciando do aspecto terapêutico, os artistas colaboraram para valorizar os cuidados com as produções plásticas e a exposição, ensinar técnicas de gravura em madeira e linóleo e troca de saberes e práticas em cerâmica. Os artistas sistematizaram e registraram as práticas de arte no ateliê. . PALAVRAS-CHAVE: Artes Plásticas; Hospital Psiquiátrico; Osório Cesar ABSTRACT: The focus of this article is the innovative idea that Osório Cesar, Mário Yahn and other professionals had of inviting visual artists to supervise drawings and paintings by inmates of the Juqueri Psychiatric Hospital at Franco da Rocha, São Paulo at the turn of the 1950s. The aim of this study is to discuss the participation of three visual artists, Maria Leontina, Clélia Rocha and Moacyr Rocha from this period, who were engaged in workshop activities at the Escola Livre de Artes Plásticas do Juqueri. These activities were created to promote opportunities for expression among the schizophrenic inmates at the mental hospital. Instead of a therapy approach, they were concerned about preserving and exhibiting the works, as well as teaching wood and linoleum printmaking techniques and sharing knowledge in ceramics. These artists were also instrumental in organizing the artwork at the workshop for exhibits outside the hospital. KEYWORDS: Visual Arts; Mental Health Hospital; Osório Cesar.
