This paper intends to present part of the analysis from a research carried out for a master’s degree study program in Music at the Federal University of Goiás (EMAC/ UFG) which led to the thesis entitled Local hybridizations and identity processes: rap in Goiânia and Aparecida de Goiânia. The object of our research was the rap music produced in these two cities, focusing on its hybrid origins in a dialogue with regional cultural aspects and identifying elements of local culture incorporated into them. The work aimed to elucidate processes of identity representation and the feeling of belonging to the city (neighborhood or territory) where young people who practice this culture live. keywords: rap; cultural hybridizations; cultural identities.
