LAND SURFACE TEMPERATURE AND NDVI OF ARAPIRACA URBAN AREA DISTRICTS – AL: AN ANALYSIS FROM ZONAL STATISTICS

Resumo: This article aims to carry out a comparative analysis between the vegetation cover, given by the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), and the Terrestrial Surface Temperature (TST) of the urban area of ​​the municipality of Arapiraca, Alagoas, using the zonal statistics extracted of the districts. In order to execute of the research, bands 2,3,4,5 and 8 of the Landsat8 satellite were used to compose terrain images and NDVI mapping, and band 10 to map the TST of the study area. Based on the zonal statistics, a negative correlation is observed between the values ​​of NDVI and TST, the districts that present high values ​​of NDVI, in general, show low values ​​of TST, and those that present low values ​​of NDVI, indicate high TST values, which suggests higher concentrations of areas with vegetation in the districts with lower TST values. In this context, image processing techniques applied to satellite data can be used in monitoring and urban environmental planning actions, detecting changes in vegetation and changes in the temperature of the land related to anthropic activities surface.

In this context, image processing techniques applied to satellite data can be used in monitoring and urban environmental planning actions, detecting changes in vegetation and changes in the temperature of the land related to anthropic activities surface.O presente artigo tem como objetivo realizar uma análise comparativa entre a cobertura vegetal, dada pelo Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), e a Temperatura Superficial Terrestre (TST) da área urbana do município de Arapiraca, Alagoas, utilizando para isso as estatísticas zonais extraídas dos bairros. Para a execução do trabalho foram utilizadas as bandas 2,3,4,5 e 8 do satélite Landsat8 para composição de imagens do terreno e mapeamento do NDVI, e a banda 10 para o mapeamento da TST da área de estudo. Com base nas estatísticas zonais observa-se uma correlação negativa entre os valores de NDVI e TST, ou seja, os bairros que apresentam valores altos de NDVI, em geral, mostram valores baixos de TST, e aqueles que apresentam valores baixos de NDVI, indicam altos valores de TST, o que sugere maiores concentrações de áreas com vegetação em bairros com menores valores de TST.
