Resumo: This paper reports the results of a case study that aimed to simulate scenarios of land use cover change (LUCC) that can contribute to the development of sustainable tourism in a municipality of Brumadinho in Minas Gerais, Brazil. The work was developed in two stages: (i) mapping in regions of tourist attraction hotspots; (ii) creation of two land use change scenarios for the year 2030. In the mapping in hotspot regions, it was possible to identify areas with greater potential for the implementation of sustainable tourism. Scenarios 1 and 2 were carried out through the simulation of LUCC for 2030, being possible through the collection of information from workshops with the local community (from participatory workshops guided by Rede Terra in 2019), which help in the focus of areas that can be destined for sustainable development for the municipality of Brumadinho. The method is relevant since there are few publications on LUCC related to the simulation of future scenarios in the area of tourism. It is believed that the proposed approach is able to enhance the development of sustainable tourism and can contribute to territorial management and governance.
