THE CONSTRUCTION OF MARIA FERREIRA DA SILVA SQUARE IN THE PERSPECTIVE OF URBAN COMMONS AND THE RIGHT TO THE CITY

This research adresses the construction of the Maria Ferreira da Silva square in the trajectory of the community Presidente Lula, on the outskirts of the city of Araguaína. The insertion in the research field was from April to December 2019, when the surveys registered practices of joint efforts in its construction, as well as events around its importance. It was possible to record observations of the residents' interaction in the square enclosure, do interviews with current and past leaders, image recording and mapping. The project was carried out in an area of 4.000 m², containing a shed, playground, sand soccer field, hiking trail, concrete benches, afforestation with fruit trees, exotic plants, in addition to some specimens of native trees of the region. The square must be understood as an urban commons in its’ process of maturing over the course of a decade, not without struggles, for the legalization of the community's housing, from the perspective of the right to the city, around commons objectives both current and in perspective.
